Our Japanese record company, Alfa Records, gained permission from Rising Sun Records in Europe to release the 2 bonus tracks "Paint It Black" and "Communication Breakdown" from Rising Sun's "Word of Mouth" digipack release. These were definitely memorable recordings because never before or after did Vicious Rumors cover anyone's songs. The songs were added to a cd single for "The Voice", a brilliant VR song from the "Word of Mouth" cd. Again to make their release of the single extra special, Alfa Records added an unreleased track called "Painted Stranger". This is a demo version of a song that didn't make it onto the "Word of Mouth" cd and includes original VR member Dave Starr on the bass. Carl and I actually really loved this song and we had much fun performing this one live during the 1993/1994 tours. I wrote the music and Carl, Geoff and I wrote the lyrics and melodies. It was recorded at Gush Studios in Oakland, Ca. Produced and mixed by VR and Michael Rosen, "The Voice" cd single is a great listen! Four VR gems that totally kick ass! This collection of songs would turn anyone into a diehard Vicious Rumors fan!
