Alameda All Stars

In the Summer of 1995 while attending a local event in his hometown of Alameda, Ca, Mark was invited up on stage to sit in with local hotshots the Alameda All Stars. As a respected band in the Bay Area for many years, they hosted a revolving door of players. Their reputation was strong yet notorious. Occasional jams soon led to Mark filling in on shows for a member who was dealing with family health issues. Those gigs quickly morphed into a new, consistent line-up featuring McGee, keyboardist Tommy Thompson, bassist Tom Miller and drummer Preston Thrall.  Performing shows around the Bay Area the vibe was good doing their special blend of blues, rock and funk with extended jams. While not seeing this as a long term project, the lack of pressure would facilitate a tight, fast developing musical chemistry. The bands longtime followers were extremely excited with the new found energy within the band.

For a few years, some members had been working with southern blues icon Gregg Allman. and when a guitar slot came available, Mark was offered an audition. In Fall of 1995, he secured his position with Gregg Allman & Friends and on Dec 26th, 1995 performed his debut show with Gregg and his All Star band mates.

Mark, always an original music artist, he'd expressed his desire to collaborate on original songs with the All Stars but there never seemed to be the same commitment amongst his band mates and in turn, it didn't materialize.

To capture the talent and chemistry that was happening during this time would have resulted in a very special album documenting the incredible energy of the band, but unfortunately, it was not meant to be.

The All Stars reputation is widely known and respected and they've always been involved in the community. And during their time together a special and lasting bond would be forged. They donated their talents to special events and causes as well as being called on to back other big name artists such as Leslie West, Denny Laine (Moody Blues, Wings), David and Linda LaFlamme (It's A Beautiful Day), Brian Auger and many others.

In summer of 2019, with some members departing and returning, Mark's acitivities with his longtime original band Luvplanet was in full swing and demanding his full attention.  Shockingly due to a schedule clash on a show, he was asked to choose between his commitments with Luvplanet and the All Stars. This incident was unnecessary and unfortunate as Mark had remained loyal to their cause for nearly 25 years.

Wishing them well, Mark moved on to continue focusing his energy on his original music career.
